Every project is led by our team of specialists, who scope the work, sign off on the report, and stay the point of contact throughout the project. Junior ecologists carry out fieldwork under their direction.
Samara Schulz

BAM Accredited AssessorMore than 17 years' experience in floristic surveys, vegetation monitoring, classification and mapping, having prepared vegetation mapping reports, biodiversity assessments, management plans, ecological impact assessments and monitoring reports. One of Wedgetail's business owners, and personally signs off every BAM report her team prepares.

BAppSc (Hons), Engineering and Environmental GeochemistryMore than 22 years' experience in environmental assessment, project management and approvals, including multidisciplinary approvals for mining and extractive industry projects, compliance monitoring, management plans and exploration approvals.

BAM Accredited AssessorMore than eight years' experience across residential, mining and infrastructure projects, covering Biodiversity Development Assessment Reports (BDARs), flora and fauna assessments, constraints assessments, vegetation management plans and long-term monitoring.
Steve Williams
Senior Ecologist (Botanist) and partner
BAM Accredited AssessorMore than 13 years' industry experience in fauna mitigation, on-site ecological management, vegetation mapping and biodiversity monitoring across renewable energy, mining, oil and gas, hydropower and linear infrastructure. Based on the South Coast, specialising in biodiversity stewardship for corporate clients with an existing offset obligation.
Adam Blundell
Principal Ecologist, Detection Dog Trainers, Offsets Strategist, Managing DirectorCo-founder of Wedgetail, with more than 20 years in ecology and environmental consulting. Built an environmental services business from six staff to over 30 before its sale to an international engineering firm, then led its state operations team for seven years. Also a handler in Wedgetail's Wildlife Detection Dogs program.
Lesley Peden
Senior Ecologist
BAM Accredited AssessorMore than 18 years' experience in flora and fauna survey and ecological monitoring, particularly the ecosystems of the Southern Tablelands. Holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Applied Ecology) from the University of Canberra. Based in Goulburn, our Southern Tablelands office contact.
Mark Dean
Senior Ecologist (Zoologist)
BAM Accredited AssessorMore than 13 years' ecological consulting experience specialising in fauna ecology, survey design, animal handling, threatened species surveys, analysis and remote camera data. Works across both development and stewardship projects, scoping every required survey upfront so clients receive one comprehensive quote with no variations later.
Michelle Geoghegan
Senior Ecologist
BAM Accredited AssessorAlmost six years' experience in environmental consulting, including plant identification, terrestrial and aquatic habitat assessments, threatened flora surveys and ArcGIS mapping and reporting under the Biodiversity Assessment Method. Also AUSRIVAS accredited for aquatic ecosystem health assessment. Based in Orange, our Central West office contact.
Keryn Dowling
Head of GISPhD in Ecology and a first-class Honours degree in Environmental Science from UNSW. Experienced across ArcGIS, QGIS, R, SAS, Tableau and SQL, built over data analytics roles at the University of Sydney and the National Centre for Vocational Education Research, including leading the Tableau-built online data dictionary for the Longitudinal Study of Australian Youth. Keryn leads the GIS team at Wedgetail.
Accredited where it counts
The Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM) accreditation held by our team is issued by the New South Wales Government and is required to prepare a BDAR or BSSAR. This is the qualification that lets us sign off the reports that go to council or the department.
